Lemon-Lime Fizz

The mouth-watering tang of freshly squeezed lemon juice takes me on a journey back in time to my grandmother's old Mamlouki house nestled between the ancient walls of Damascus city. She had a huge lemon tree that was there from before my father was born, it bore an abundance of fruits and autumn was spent making and conserving lemon juice. The house is derelict now, but I hear the lemon tree is still growing strong.

There is nothing more pleasing than a glass of freshly squeezed vegetable or fruit juice not to forget a refreshing ice-cold fruit smoothie. Drinking a glass of fresh fruit or vegetable juice a day provides our body with essential vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants. A glass of fresh juice counts as a portion of the daily five of fruits and vegetables. But, be aware that drinking more than one glass of fruit juice a day will deliver too much sugar to your blood, especially if you are diabetic.

This lemon-lime fizz is not only delicious but, it is also a powerhouse of health benefits, it contains manganese an anti-oxidant for healthy nerves and brain, vitamin C which boosts the body’s immune system which defends against illnesses.

Sipping this drink on a hot Dubai day with crushed ice is all I need. Love your body and take care of it.
